DL 3

I have been using this app since DL1 and really like the fact that you can scan or save almost anything to it. Especially like the iphone and Ipad scanners as the one I had bought lost the back off it so rather than buying a new one can use the scanners. Hope to see the library back as I deleted it from my Iphone thinking I could reintstall it and found it was gone.

Fast, responsive and fun!

Delicious Library 3 is the only application I use to catalog all my movies, books, video games and electronics amongst the many other things that I collect. The reason for that is that I have tried many application which sort of do the same but they all have shortcomings that DL3 does not. I have used DL since version 1 and as a long time user Ive seen the application grow and get better and better with each release. It runs fast and flawlessly on my new iMac 5K retina and its very easy to backup or export your entire library to import to another machine. Delicious Library 3 makes cataloging large numbers of items fast, simple and fun. Highly recommended!

Massively useful.

The best cataloging app you can get. Even better when paired with the companion scanning app!

A Step Back

There is no more AppleScript support. The search result displays in a non-editable pane, forcing me to create temporary smart shelves to achieve my desired result. The information panel is in a separate window only – it can not be part of the main window. The title column can not be moved in list view. The documentation is sparse. Some labels are misleading or confusing.

Very Disappointed

I thought this app would be the answer to my hopes. I am 68 and disabled and really need to prepare a list of my books. Initially, I had to fight with MoV to honour their warranty. That too a while as their initial positon was that they did not sell the scanner to me so they did not haveto do anything. Like GM saying they do not have to honour their warranty because you bought your car from a dealership, not directly from GM. Finally they sent a replacement scanner. This morning, I cheerfully started to scan our collection and it worked just as promised. This afternoon, with new batteries just in case, attemts to scan books in were impossible - the scanner would link to my laptop, be paired, then a small cylinder would appear on the Bluetooth screen, the scanner would blink and sent out the red light, but nothing further would happen. The voice did not announce the book, the book would not be added to the prior listings. I seem to have an app that does not work and a scanner which may served some other purpose, heaven only knows. I have just written to Delicious Monster and shall report of any developments, but it appears that over $130 was spend on an app that refusesto work...

Excellent app

Been using DM since v1. I have shown this app to others who have bought it as well. I recommend it as a way to collect in one place a description of those objects you may have to replace one day due to theft (my original reason for buying v1).

Just needs some tweaks

I have had both previous versions of Delicious Library. I love it. The only reason I’m giving it a 3 as it frequently locks up and I must force it to quit. Most frequently this occurs when browsing recommended and iTunes Library shelves. Once they fix it, I’m sure I will love it again as now I can scan with the free scanner app using my iPhone. Much better than trying to line it up with the camera on my iMac. I hope they kept the unique touches like it speaking the names of recently items particularly how it says “Voldemort” after anything to do with Harry Potter.

OSX Library Not Detected

I’m getting the error in the title. Using iPhone 6S with 21.5” iMac. Other than the pairing issue very attractive program. Will update review if and when I am successful resolving issue.

Inscrutable user interface

I thought they might fix the obvious problems with this application, but after several years with the 3.x design it’s clear that they’re probably not going to. Lots of incredibly confusing user user interface problems here: from the search, which only very subtly highlights results (instead of filtering them); to marking a loaned book returned, which I simply cannot figure out. On top of that, the application almost always crashses after just a few operations.

Good app, but handling could be improved

The handling could be improved, - get books with input of ISBN number - better input mask for remarks for each book or item I hope for future version.

Add russian localization!

Good library, but Add russian localization!!

Fabulous

Fabolous and well-done. Can be better.

Really Useful

I really like this application as it brings order to my library. Easy to use and very powerful.

Indespensible if you are a collector...

Delicious Library is, admittedly, a bit of an investment—but if you look at their website, they are a very small company. Your money probably feeds each employee, not a vast pocket of development wealth like many other apps. They are very independent. They have earned my $25 for their continued service and for developing a best-in-its-class piece of software. I’ve had Delicious Library for nearly 7 years and have enjoyed seeing it grow—the barcode scanner works quite well with more mainstream items, and things that are more obscure can be added manually, which is not so bad. Their customer service is and always has been impeccable. They really seem to care that their product is working. There’s wit and intelligence in their feedback and it’s appreciated. One of the most impressive aspects of the program is the array of export options. Many people seem to want more in order to back-up to their clouds, etc, but I just wanted to preserve my library and its shelves (with many obscure, detail-ridden items) so that I could transport my DL3 to a new computer. Doing so was surprisingly painless and seamless. Ok, now the ‘suggestion’ part: I collect curated Blu-rays made in South Korea which are NEVER recognized by DL3…I realize that the DL3 system is largely reliant upon Amazon, but I’m wondering if you could grow from that model. (Yes, Amazon has almost everything—but not everything…)

The best app for the Mac...

Without a doubt, this is the best Library app for the Mac…but oh man, I have wished for years for an iOS companion app! The reality is that there is nothing else out there that comes even close to how useful and well done the mac app is, and there is nothing that I know of for iOS that looks all that great. If anyone can build it, its Delicious Monster. Until then….

Great choice for hardback book lovers!

This app was easy to install and sync with my iPhone. Within 5 minutes I was able to scan about 15 volumes. Can hardly wait to organize my collection. Could use a quick video tutorial on the app features. At this point, I’m just experimenting.

Excellent, Fun Organization Application.

An organized life is an easier life! This application provides a visual inventory of your books, music and gadgets. It’s practical for insurance purposes and generally fun to have quick access to your valued possessions in one place. Graphically, I would give the app an 8/10 and functionally I would give it a 9/10. I particularly like the customized shelves where you can group your books by themes. You can double click on the individual items for more information including purchase prices and current values which may be important to someone who is a serious collector. There are several ways to add a book including laptop, iPhone or iMac camera barcode scanning and based on your choices, similar to Amazon, a list of related, recommended books are provided. You can’t go wrong. This application does what it’s supposed to do.

It’s ALL good.

Current Review: It’s very good now. I don’t love it yet, but it is very good, and I’d recommend it for sure. Old Review: Yay! The recommendation debug button is gone! That means that the developers read these reviews and improve their app as a result. Anyway, the mic button for voice search is still odd, and the scrolling through libraries still could use another layer of silk applied to it. I still wish that the app had a "Preferences" option in the menubar with customization options galore. But all-in-all, the app has improved. 3 stars to 4 stars. I really like it, but I dont love it yet. Keep up the great work. Oldest Review: Did I own DL2? Yes, it was great. I only wished that I could catalog my crap with DL2 using my iPhone as the scanner. Guess what? DL3 does this. The setup for the iPhone scanner app was easy and fun. However, This application suffers from some bad juju that I assume will be sorted out as users use the application. Its only going up from here. Things I think are problems or are confusing: -When actively using the app (not just leaving it open and running in the background) it consumes a crazy amount of system resources. While the Mac does a spectacular job of managing the monster that is Delicious Library 3, the beast itself is quite unruly. -Scrolling needs to be fixed badly. I imported a huge amount of stuff from my DL2 database, and scrolling through all that content is not pretty. -The Recommendation tab is nice, but the "Recommendations Debug" button seems weirdly out of place and the "Recommendations Debug" dialog window is really confusing. -The "Mic" icon next to the search bar is weird. Deliciously Library works ONLY on Mountain Lion. I could be totally wrong, but cant all Moutain Lion compatible computers allow the double tap of the "fn" key to enable dictation? Cant this feature of OSX be integrated in the search bar for DL3? Cool stuff: -Scanning barcodes with an iOS device to update your Delicious Library! <----Best thing EVAR! -Recommendations. I know its dumb to think a marketing/sales/kickback system is cool, but it is. -If its got a barcode and can be bought online, you can probably add it to your library. -The graphs and charts to show you how valuable your crap actually is…cool, but sad (for me anyway). Yeah, there are some problems, either of a practical or aestethic nature. Aestetics obviously dont matter too much, but it seems to be that most, if not all of those issues could be addressed if the app had Preferences. Why doesnt DL3 have its own preferences? All-in-all I will still recommend this app. Why? Because it comes from a development group that I have come to trust. I know that most, if not all, issues with Delicous Library 3 will be sorted out as this software inches closer to perfection.

FINALLY IT IS DELICIOUS!

Keep pumping them out and keep up the great work!

Best one yet !

Really like this new version - only used it for a few hours, but so far it rocks.
